Made by a small one-man workshop in the colourful Mexican town of Metepec, these wonderful ceramics depict a Tree of Life. Entitled 'Padre de Dios' or 'Father of God' for the elements of Biblical iconography. The scenes include small Adam and Eve figures on either side and a central snake with the apple of temptation in its mouth. The 'Arbol de la Vida' or 'Tree of Life' ceramic art form grew out of the intricate candelabras used in Mexican churches. They make wonderful decorative items for both religious and secular enjoyment and are indicative of the Mexican approach to colourful folk art.
