Day of The Dead Mariachi Ceramic
About this product
This little skeletal mariachi loves nothing more than singing and playing his guitar! Handcrafted and hand painted, this musical piece shows the national icon of a mariachi in a fully stylised outfit, known as traje de charro. The intricate detail of the hands in particular show the skill that has gone into crafting this piece.
The distinctive sounds of mariachi music began in the early 19th century and were influenced from a fusion of Spanish and African styles. Once simply a rural form of folk music, it has evolved into an iconic national symbol, known for its trumpets, guitars and violin playing musicans adorning the traditional mariachi 'horsemans suit'.
Handmade with care in a small family workshop on the outskirts of Texcoco, Mexico, this one-of-a-kind Catrina ceramic supports local artisans and their communities. Siesta Crafts' commitment to Fair Trade ensures that this unique piece is produced ethically, with respect for both the environment and the people involved. Each Catrina is entirely individual, making it a rare and treasured addition to any collection.
