These bell shaped singing bowls have been made with a turned wooden handle to provide highly directional sound application. Rubbing the outside of the bowl creates a wonderfully sonourous and clear tone which can then be directed to specific parts of the body or hearing field.

This budget variation on the traditional rainstick creates a great sound reminiscent of rain falling. The instrument is made using a hollow length of bamboo and features burnt patterning, colourful dot painting and woven rattan ends.

Caxixi Straw Shaker

Our caxixi shakers are made by filling a woven rattan basket with seeds and attaching a smooth coconut plate to the bottom. These versatile shakers are then played by either shaking them on their sides so that the seeds hit the basket for a soft sound or vertically, up and down, so that the seeds hit the coconut plate for a harder, almost metallic sound.

Beaded Cabasa

Inspired by the original African instruments, these cabasas are made from a dried, hollowed out gourd with a net of colourful beads on a turned, wooden handle. They are played by holding the netted gourd in the non-dominant hand and then twisting the handle back and forth to create a bright and crisp sound.
