Carved Sitting Buddha 80cm

This 80cm seated Buddha has been carefully and expertly hand carved on the island of Bali. Each of these incredible works of art is created from a solid piece of suar wood. When depicting Buddha, the positioning of the hands (Mudra) is very important and different mudra represent different things. Here, Buddha is shown with his right hand in the Shuni mudra ('the Seal of Patience') and this represents accountability for our actions whilst remaining 'patient and pure in the process'. His left hand is held in the Gyan mudra, Sanskrit for knowledge and wisdom, and is used to help direct energy and direct focus. The position (Asana) for seated Buddhas is often this full lotus position with the feet resting on the thigh of the other leg and the soles facing upwards. This meditative asana is known as Dhyana Asana or Padmasana. As this item is both large and heavy, collection from our warehouse is preferred.
