About this product
These beautiful ceramics are made in the traditional 'barro' style. Each sun and maize plaque is fired in a small kiln before then being carefully hand painted in marvellous warm colours. The plaques come with two small holes to thread string or rope for hanging on the wall. For centuries, maize has been a very important staple crop across Mesoamerica and many pieces of artwork reflect the significance of this versatile plant. All our barro ceramics are made by a small family-run pottery workshop in Texcoco.
