About this product

This beautiful hand carved figure depicts the powerful vahana(vehicle) of Vishnu, and has been crafted from rich dark wood by talented artisans in Newari, Nepal. One of three powerful brothers named Cheppu, Garuda and Htimanga, Garuda is regarded as being powerful, protective and fast. Garuda has found his way onto many modern insignias and symbols such as the Indian commandos, the Indonesian national airline and the emblem of Thailand. Garuda and his brothers are the enemies of the Nagas (snakes) and are often depicted eating one.
