About this product

Bold and radiant, these Starburst Batik Bone Earrings feature a striking sunburst design hand-dyed in black and white. Each circular piece is topped with decorative brass wirework, adding a subtle touch of shimmer to this powerful artisan style.

Handmade in Kenya from upcycled cow bone, the starburst pattern symbolises light, energy, and renewal, making these earrings both beautiful and meaningful.

Ethical, expressive, and full of character, they’re the perfect choice for those who love their jewellery to shine with purpose.

Meet the maker

Omondi Jewellery is a small workshop based in Kibera, Nairobi – one of Africa's largest informal settlements - and is owned and run by Ishmael Omondi. He lived on the streets before being trained in the art of bone jewellery making through a project run by Zuri Design. Using recycled brass and bone, he creates a beautiful and distinctive range of jewellery, with his long term goal being to expand his team and provide fair employment opportunities to others from Kibera.

Fair Trade & Provenance

We visit and work directly with makers and suppliers, paying fairly and building long-term relationships. This is all part of our commitment to Fair Trade and how we've been doing business for over 40 years.
