About this product

These oval shaped earrings are handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico. Craftsmen use a traditional Alpaca metal alloy to create the frame, then fill with deep, shimmering colours derived from dyed pearly abalone shell. Silver plated fixings with Alpaca metal alloy earrings

Meet the maker

In the idyllic town of Taxco, once famed for its silver mines, husband-and-wife team Gerardo and Elía run Exportaciones Guadalupe with their family. From their small shop they sell beautiful alpaca silver earrings featuring sustainably farmed abalone shell. On our visit, we squeezed into one of Taxco’s iconic little Volkswagen Beetles and headed into the hills to watch the shells being transformed into these beautiful earrings.
