Mala Beads
A mala — or mallah — is a Buddhist rosary, traditionally strung with 108 beads for counting mantras and breaths through meditation. Our Fair Trade range is made in Nepal by artisans Siesta has worked alongside for years, and spans everyday wooden malas, rudraksha and lava-stone strands, hand-carved bone skull malas, and elasticated wrist malas that slip easily on and off. Many arrive in a little recycled sari pouch with a card explaining their use. Whether chosen for daily practice, as a meditation gift, or simply for the quiet weight of them in the hand, each strand carries the same centuries-old purpose: one bead, one breath, one mantra at a time.
