Hooting Owl - Mini

This hooting owl blower is a small wooden sound instrument designed to be played, producing a distinctive "twit-twoo" owl call when blown. Carved in the shape of an owl and sized to fit comfortably in the hand, it works as both a simple musical toy and a charming decorative piece when not in use.

Made from Rain Tree wood, these owl blowers are produced in a village around an hour outside Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. The making process is shared across the community, with different households responsible for each stage — from rough block sawing and shaping, through to detailed carving and final sanding — preserving a traditional, collaborative way of working.

Once carved, the owls are taken to Chiang Mai to be painted and finished, giving each piece its final character. Ethically sourced and handmade throughout, every owl blower shows small variations in carving and finish, reflecting the many hands involved in its creation and making each one slightly different.
