Zunil Pencil Cases
About this product
These striking pencil cases are made from a colourful, handwoven 'Zunil' Guatemalan fabric with traditional striped and geometric designs. A zip fastening keeps pens, pencils and small essentials together.
The Zunil style takes its name from a K’iche’ Maya town in Guatemala’s Quetzaltenango highlands, where weaving is an important part of local culture. The textiles are known for their use of bold and heavily embroidered geometric patterns and vibrant colours. Because of their durability, the cotton fabrics are often used in traditional skirts (cortes) and blouses (huipiles).
Handmade in Guatemala, this piece has been sourced through Fair Trade principles. By purchasing it, you support small-scale artisans and communities continuing to honour their roots through traditional methods and designs, keeping their crafts and values alive.
