Bamboo Root Duckling
About this product
This cute wood carving of a little duckling, has been crafted from bamboo root. Finished with a light varnish to give it a warm sheen, it makes a sweet gift, a great little sideboard ornament or a quirky addition to the garden during warmer weather.
Bali has a rich tradition of bamboo root carving, and the running duck figurine is one of its most recognisable craft exports. Each one is carved, sanded and hand-painted by local artisans. The carver decides on the shape and position of the duck by looking at the shape of the un-carved bamboo root making each duck unique.
This figurine has been handmade by artisans in Bali. Produced under Fair Trade principles, it supports the skilled makers behind the work.
