The seven metal tines are played by plucking with the thumbs, producing a warm, gentle tone that makes it perfect for beginners and children alike. Each one is individually painted so no two are quite identical.
Also known as a kalimba or mbira, the thumb piano has roots in African musical traditions and has been played in various forms for centuries. This elephant design makes it a lovely gift as well as a genuinely playable instrument — easy to pick up and deeply satisfying to play.
