Oware is one of the oldest strategy games in the world, played across West Africa and the Caribbean for thousands of years. This set comes with a carved wooden board featuring traditional Ghanaian symbols or animal designs — each board is individual — along with natural stone seeds and a fitted drawstring bag in vibrant African fabric. Two players, twelve cups, and a game that rewards patience and forward thinking.
Oware is played by sowing seeds around the board, capturing your opponent's pieces through strategic placement — simple to learn, genuinely difficult to master, and deeply rooted in Ghanaian social and cultural life.
