Small Patterned Singing Bowl Set
About this product
These striking black singing bowls are adorned with Buddhist symbol relief work, revealing the original polished metal beneath. This small gift set contains a patterned singing bowl, a wooden striker (puja stick) and a cushion, beautifully presented in a Himalayan lokta paper box. An ideal set for those with an interest in Tibetan Buddhism, meditation, energy healing or sound therapy.
Machine-made metal bowls are generally easier to play than traditional hand-beaten bowls. Their smooth, polished finish allows for a steadier striking motion, making them ideal for beginners. Hand-beaten bowls produce a more complex, overtone-rich sound, but require a little more technique to get the best from them.
How to Play
- Rest the singing bowl in the palm of your hand. For smaller bowls, balance it on your fingertips.
- Hold the striker in the middle with all fingertips pointing downwards.
- Gently tap the striker against the side of the bowl to warm it up.
- With even pressure, rub the striker clockwise around the outside rim of the bowl using a full arm movement — like stirring a large pan.
- Keep the striker upright and maintain steady pressure. Let the sound build gradually as the bowl picks up the vibration.
