Meet the Makers
From mountain workshops in the Himalayas to coastal studios in West Africa, we work with talented artisans across the globe — each one a master of their craft, whether that's hand-thrown ceramics, woven textiles, or carved woodwork.
Every maker we partner with is selected not just for their skill, but for their values. We source exclusively through Fair Trade principles, ensuring fair pay, safe working conditions, and a sustainable livelihood for the artisans and their communities.
MEET: Ishmael
Born in Kibera, Ishmael lived on the streets before being trained in the art of bone jewellery making, which was a project run by Zuri Design.
He now runs his own successful workshop using recycled brass and bone, and his dream is to expand and provide fair employment opportunities to others from the Kibera slums.
MEET: Julie
Julie works in Thailand and has mastered the art of making pencils from sawdust and PVA for many years.
The sawdust is recovered from a nearby workshop, and the pencil is made from coppiced twigs, making it a very sustainable product!
MEET: Ketut
Ketut works with a team of four tailors to create beautiful clothing from handmade batik prints. Each of his team works from their home to fit around family life.
We have been working with him for over 15 years now, and love discussing new ideas with him and seeing them come to life!
MEET: Eak
Eak has been carving and hand painting decorative wooden stools for over 15 years...and is still loving it!
He works from a workshop alongside a small team and is based in a small village north of Chiang Mai in Thailand.
MEET: Sot
These cute smiley ceramics are all designed and hand made by one artist called Sot.
He works in the countryside a short distance from Chiang Mai in Thailand.
MEET: Arturo
Arturo, his brother, and extended family all work together to make Siesta’s beautiful Catrina figures, crosses, and other colourful ceramics.
Their family workshop is based in Texcoco, close to Mexico City.
MEET: Ivan & Areli
Ivan and Areli are a lovely young couple that run a ceramic business and are based just outside of Taxco in Mexico.
They produce fun designs, all crafted by hand and painted in bold colours to create a vibrant homewares anf gift range.
MEET: Elía & Gerrado
One of Siesta's largest earring collections is made by Gerrado and Elía, a lovely couple based in the hilly climes of picturesque Taxco.
Together they work in their home workshop and have been supplying Siesta for over 30 years.
MEET: Neung
Pun Ngam Ceramics is owned by Neung. He and his small team are based in Lampang, the central hub of Thai ceramics.
They specialise in designing quirky, organic, and nature inspired ceramics, often finished with a raw clay or raku style.
